How Behavior Buddy uses what you share — and what stays yours.
What BBuddy uses, and why
When you add a learner, we save the details you choose to share — things like favorites, family members, helpful phrases, and supports that work for them. We use those details to personalize the videos and music we make, so a video about waiting for snack time feels like your house, your routines, and your learner.
Videos still work even if you leave every learner section blank — personalization is an option, never a requirement.
How personalization works
The details you share help BBuddy choose better characters, settings, sounds, and supports — quietly, in the background. When we send ideas to the systems that generate the actual video and music, we remove names and identifying details first. The creative system never sees your learner's name. It only sees the kinds of things that make a great teaching scene.
The same is true for music. The mood, energy, and rhythm are guided by what your learner enjoys — but their personal details stay with you.
What stays private
- Your learner's full profile (favorites, goals, notes).
- Any video tied to your account.
- Your email, payment details, and account history.
Personalized videos are never made public. We do not sell data. We do not share videos outside the opt-in safe-reuse pathway described below.
You can change or remove anything, anytime
Every field on a learner profile can be edited or cleared from My Learners. When you delete a learner or a video, we remove it from your library and from anywhere personalization might have used it.
If you'd like to delete everything, you can close your account from Settings and your profiles, videos, and history go with it.
BBuddy supports learning — it does not diagnose or treat
The information you share helps BBuddy understand your learner so videos feel familiar and meaningful. But the preferences and supports we suggest are ideas, not clinical recommendations. They do not replace the judgment of a BCBA, SLP, OT, teacher, or any other professional who knows your learner.
BBuddy does not diagnose, evaluate, or treat any condition. If you're choosing between strategies, we recommend talking with your care team — and we'll do our best to make videos that support whatever you decide together.
When you share a progress link
You can share specific videos or progress snapshots with a clinician, family member, or teacher by creating a shareable link. Whoever you send that link to can view the content you chose — and nothing else. They never see other learners on your account, your email, your payment details, or any settings you haven't deliberately included.
Shared links can be revoked at any time. Once a link is turned off, the receiver can no longer view what you shared.
Reusable clips & same-first-name reuse
To keep generation fast and affordable, BBuddy may reuse generic, non-personal clips when a new video happens to need the same kind of moment (for example, a calm hand-up cue in a kitchen). Generic clips never include a child's name, voice, or anything identifying.
You can optionally let us reuse a previously rendered video for another caregiver whose learner shares the same first name — but only when every one of these is true:
- You opted in, and the other caregiver opted in too.
- The two requests match on first name, skill, learner level, and behavior function.
- The video contains no detectable personal details — no phone numbers, emails, addresses, schools, medications, diagnoses, sibling or clinician names, or full names.
This setting is off by default. You can turn it on or off any time from Settings.
When our practices change
If we ever change how BBuddy uses your information, we'll let you know on this page first, and we'll send a heads-up to your account email before the change takes effect. New defaults are always opt-in for anything that affects personalization or sharing.
Questions? Email us any time — we'd rather over-explain than guess.
